Essentials for Your Maternity Session

Since this is our first pregnancy, I wanted to have some photos to look back on and reminisce when I was pregnant. Who knows, maybe it’ll be the only time I’ll be pregnant. We worked with the lovely Shea Christine to capture the belly in all of it’s baby bump glory at Riverbend Park in Jupiter, FL. She photographed our engagement photos & our wedding so it was great sharing this precious next step in our lives with her. We feel so blessed to be chosen as her parents and can't wait to meet our little lady! This is becoming so real now...if we could just decide on her name.

Here are some things to bring with you for your shoot!

1. Bug Repellent
Hello Zika! This was one of those items I wish I had brought with me and only thought about it after the fact. We shot in some whimsy meadows where the critters were out and about and would've felt better knowing I had some bug repellent on!

2. Pretty Accessories

Coming from me this was a no-brainer but holy indecisive I am! I decided to wear mostly dainty jewelry and one bold piece. I'm seriously obsessed with this floral maxi and didn't want to take away from it so I kept it simple with our Dainty Hexagon Necklace. It added just the right amount of sparkle!

Our Crescent Horn Necklace is a favorite of mine since it’s so neutral and its cream colored rosary chain pairs so well with everything.

I wore our Dreamcatcher Necklace with this outfit. I love how it looks against higher neckline tops. It’s also great for layering!

I layered a few of my favorite Druzy Bracelets and Druzy Bangle -- you know I'm all about layered jewels! :)

3. Flower Crown
I wish I could wear a flower crown every day! They’re so feminine and fun and I couldn’t resist not wearing one. Flower and Fringe made me the most beautiful crown with delicate pink and white flowers! It added a perfect pop of color to these shots.

4. Two outfit options.

Ordinarily I’m a shopaholic and have no problem picking out clothes but when this is your first pregnancy, dressing the bump can become somewhat challenging especially when your bottoms no longer fit and a belly band just won’t cut it.

I found this MINKPINK floral maxi at one of my local faves, Vagabond Apparel Boutique. As a bonus it’s not maternity so I’ll be able to wear it again!

I struggled a little in finding something that would reveal my belly. I’m used to wearing high-waisted skirts and the whole do I wear this under or over the bump stumped me. I wore this maxi skirt for a local trunk show and as I was putting it on I realized I could just pull the skirt down to sit below the bump. Problem solved!

5. A Cozy Blanket
You’ll want a spot to snuggle up to your hubby and this Mexican Blanket came in handy that I got from Urban Vintage Rentals. They have so many cute things and could easily go overboard with props!

What are some things you found useful to bring with you?
